Supercharging Recipes from an Ultra-Runner

Scott Jurek is one of the central characters in Christopher McDougall’s masterpiece Born to Run, which chronicles the lives and times of various ultra-endurance runners, culminating in a race against the Tarahumara tribesmen of Mexico.

Jurek is a dedicated vegetarian, who maintains his place at the pinnacle of the ultra-running community on a purely plant-based diet, eschewing much of the conventional wisdom of sports science and nutrition. He recently published some of his recipes for pre and post training energy boosts in Outside magazine.

I have yet to read his new book entitled Eat and Run, but got the chance to listen to a great interview with him on Competitor Radio recently where he talks extensively about the book and his various philosophies.
