Mike Woods. Sleeping Better

Lack of sleep is a killer, especially for a top athlete. Just ask Mike Woods. The former elite middle distance runner and now pro cyclist is featured in the latest episode of  “Back on the Bus”, and hosts Svein Tuft and Ryan Anderson do a great job in charting the unusual path of one the sport's late bloomers. Mike's unlikely career trajectory aside, this episode is sprinkled with all sorts of great insights, including the ISN rider's focus on getting better sleep whilst away on tour. Yes, there are some upsides to the pandemic restrictions on elite sports. Sure, the new policy of solo hotel rooms for pro riders allow for greater privacy, but as Mike explains, less distraction and disturbance are his new trump cards that allow for a better night time routine that includes reading a book quietly in bed.

Want to know what it was like for “Woodsy” on the famous third tier Amore e Vita squad? Or what the difference is between being a good athlete and a good racer? Listen to the most recent installment of Back on the Bus for these and other great nuggets.
